Transport of bananas
False of course

Suggestion from Le Pougnezu the 06/07/06 :
The elephant carries maximum 1000 bananas.
It must traverse 1000 kilometers.
Before leaving, the elephant eats a banana.
It makes its long way, eating 999 bananas.
It brings back 1 banana out of B, and does not have enough bananas to remake a way.
Our elephant can well better do...

Suggestion from Le Pougnezu the 06/07/06 :
It eats 1000 bananas, stocks these in its stomach, and carries a bag of 1000 bananas at the oasis B.
No, our elephant eats only one banana per km and doesn't stock in its stomach.

Suggestion from Le Pougnezu the 06/07/06 :
If one gradually moves the banana heaps while following an arithmetic recursion, we finish with 533 bananas.
This suggestion isn't really clear !

Suggestion from CouSYouB the 06/07/06 :
The elephant couldn't bring any banana to the oasis B, because the distance is equal to the number of bananas max which it can carry with him, but at each km it must eat a banana. Thus with the 1000km, it will eat its 1000° banana. Thus it will have in fact eaten the complete bag during transport, and the poor one does not have even any more a banana on him to return to oasis A.
None: it is not a lot! The elephant must be able to better do!

Suggestion from Thomas the 06/07/06 :
It can bring 400 bananas to the oasis B.
(The explanation is not here to not help those which look at this page )
400: pretty number! But a little weak!

Suggestion from Supdekroien the 06/09/06 :
First travel : it covers 250 km, it puts 500 bananas on the floor and come back with 250 bananas.

Second travel : it does 250 km, it has 750 bananas left but it finds again the 500 bananas on the floor, it takes 250 bananas.
Its bag is full again, it does 250 km more (it's 500 km from the oasis B and has 750 bananes), it puts 500 bananas on the floor and come back toward oasis A with 250 bananas. 250 km fron the oasis A it takes 250 bananas and go to this oasis.

Third travel : It takes the last 1000 bananas and goes toxard oasis B, at the half travel it takes the 500 bananas on the floor. It has now 1000 bananas at the kilometer 500. When it arrives at the oasisis B it has 500 bananas !

Suggestion from Léon Dulant the 06/11/06 :
It can bring 533 1/3 bananas to the oasis B.
(The explanation is not here to not help those which look at this page )
Very near the solution, but the elephant can be better!

Suggestion from Simon the 06/11/06 :
The elephant takes 1000 bananas on its back, it eats one for th first kilometer and put the 1999 other bananas in its ass. The elephant eats 999 bananas. When he arrives at the oasis B it has one bananas on the back and 1999 in its ass. 2000 bananas are at the oasis B but only one realy tastes banana !
It's really dirty! And the elephant can transport the bananas only on its back...

Suggestion from Sarkis the 06/12/06 :
The elephant takes 1000 bananas and does 500 km. It will eat 500 bananas, it puts 500 bananas on the floor. Later it comes back with 1000 bananas and put the 500 non eated bananas on the floor. Now 1000 bananas are 500 km from the oasis B. [...] Finaly it will arrive with 750 bananas at the oasis B.
(All words of the explanation are not here because this explanation is very repetitive and false from the beginning )
The elephant eats a banana every 1 km when it goes and when it returns.

Suggestion from Morgoth the 06/12/06 :
It can bring 533 bananas to the oasis B.
(The explanation is not here to not help those which look at this page )
